Chiang Mai Liberty in Liberty Village offers a clear and approachable taste of Thai cuisine in a setting that suits a casual lunch or a relaxed dinner with friends or family. The space feels straightforward and functional, with a noticeable focus on food and service rather than elaborate décor. It’s the kind of spot where the easy-going atmosphere lets the dishes take center stage, though some may find the prominent Thai political and royal portraits a bit unexpected amidst their meal.

This restaurant shines in its menu variety, covering familiar Thai staples alongside some regional specialties. The pad Thai, panang curry, and Khao Soi stand out as reliable choices, indicating a respect for authenticity and fresh preparation. Appetizers like spring rolls, chicken satay, and calamari provide approachable starters that reflect the classic balance of Thai flavors—herbs, spice, and a little crunch. For those curious about something different, the Mai Bowls combine fresh, vibrant ingredients with fragrant ginger rice, offering a lighter, modern twist on traditional Thai meals.

Service here is a frequently noted strong point. Staff members like Kevin and Tao receive praise for being attentive and personable, adding to the dining experience by creating a warm rapport that’s more like chatting with a knowledgeable friend than formal waitstaff interaction. This friendliness makes Chiang Mai Liberty comfortable for solo diners, couples, and small groups alike.

It tends to attract locals looking for a solid and unfussy Thai meal rather than a polished fine dining experience. The vibe works well for weekday lunches or casual evenings when the food is the priority and the setting is more relaxed and familiar. The cocktails, including Thai tea-infused spirits and inventive drinks like the Watermelon Mojito, add a fun dimension if you’re coming in for a social night out.

One practical note: some guests have mentioned the floor can be slippery, so visitors might want to tread carefully, especially on busy or wet days. Despite that, the overall flow and layout suit those who appreciate straightforward service and generous portions without pretense.

In summary, Chiang Mai Liberty is best for anyone craving a solid, flavorful Thai meal with friendly service in a casual, no-fuss environment. It’s a dependable pick in Liberty Village for those wanting to enjoy Thailand’s culinary staples alongside innovative cocktails and a welcoming atmosphere that feels more about connections than decor.

My husband and I came here for lunch and this was our very first time at the Liberty Village location. I’ve ordered from the Parklawn location and both locations were wonderful. I wanted to take the time to express that Chiang Mai is a decent Thai restaurant. Our server, Kevin, made it even more special. He was friendly, attentive, and we had a delightful and really funny conversation which made it memorable. We will for sure be coming back again. I wanted to personally thank you Kevin and the staff on hand (yesterday) for looking after us. Kevin’s friendly and authentic personality was a wonderful surprise to our first experience here. Furthermore, the food, drinks, and presentation of it all made it worth the trip. We came from Vaughan and honestly, I highly recommend this place either you want to dine-in or take-out. I’m a new big fan of Chiang Mai. We ordered the following: - Famous Pad Thai (Chicken) - Shrimp Pad Ki Maw - Tiger Beer - Sticky Rice Cocktail (tastes similar to a Pina Colada, very super yummy and they didn’t cheap out on the alcohol) - Calamari - Tom Kha (Coconut Soup) Everything hit the spot. I honestly give it 10/10 for food, and 12/10 for service. Thank you Kevin, and all your colleagues for a memorable experience. As well, thank you to the chefs and kitchen staff who prepared our lovely dishes. We hope to see you soon! Best, Linh and Anthony

Had a truly delightful dinner at Chiang Mai this evening. We enjoyed the Pad Thai, Panang Curry, and Malai Curry—each dish was beautifully prepared, full of authentic flavors, and absolutely delicious. The service was exceptional. Kevin, our server, was outstanding...attentive, personable, and made us feel genuinely well taken care of throughout the evening. The rest of the team was equally polite and courteous, adding to the overall pleasant experience. The décor is tasteful and inviting, creating a lovely atmosphere for a relaxed yet refined dining experience. From the food to the service and ambiance, everything was on point. A fantastic experience overall—highly recommend!

Great food and service. However the floors were extremely slippery for some reason so we had to walk slowly in order to not slip. Also I found it weird that the restaurant was primarily decorated with photos of Thai leaders (i think?). It was strange to be eaten while a large portrait of (a king?) was looming over us. The food and service was excellent though. The cocktails were fun.

First time to try food from Chiang Mai and was very happy with the tasty and fresh food. Ordered mango salad, chicken pad thai and beef khao soi - everything tastes great! Our servers Tim and Macky were very friendly, made sure we got everything we needed. We'll definitely be back to try their other food.

Came here for a casual birthday dinner with my two friends. Service was bar-none, huge shoutout to Tao for her warm welcome, friendliness, and effienciency throughout the whole night. We ordered the spring rolls and calamari for appetizers, two of us had the pad see ew for mains, and a pineapple fried rice for our third friend. All meals were well-seasoned and were of decent portion. I've been to other Chiang Mai locations but would specifically come back to this one just because of this stellar experience.

Food - We were a party of vegetarians and the server was kind enough to let us know which dishes are available for vegetarians and also which dishes could be made vegan or vegetarian. I appreciate the thoughtfulness! The food itself was super delicious. We had mango salad (must try!), khao soi (was made vegan on demand) , Thai basil fried rice, Thai iced tea (was surprisingly not too sweet, which I loved) Service - Very warm staff and the manager also checked in on us. Ambiance - a warm and cozy vibe , plenty

One of the best Thai food restaurant that I have tried here in Toronto. We ate here as it was well recommended by our cousin and it did not disappoint. We were welcomed warmly by our server Tim. He was very engaging, jolly and well knowledgeable in the dishes and drinks. He was also spot on in recommending the dishes. The Wagyu Khao Soi Dumplings were our instant favorite. We also liked the Shrimp Tom Yum Pad Thai. It had a good spicy kick that did not overpower the overall taste of the Pad Thai. I also tried the mocktail crafted and recommended by their bartender, Bryan. I liked that it was very fruity, refreshing and with the right amount of sweetness. Their manager Macky, was also very engaging with the customers. He visited our table quite a number of times just to make sure that everything was ok, which we really appreciated. I also appreciated that they gave me a surprise birthday dessert. It was plated beautifully which made a good end note to our meal. Overall, the level of hospitality of this branch is very heartfelt and sincere. We will surely be back and we will definitely recommend this branch to our friends. Thank you for the lovely meal and experience.
